Pacesetters Out of School Care Program for School-aged children
Our Out of School Care Program is designed to provide a safe and caring environment for children enrolled in half-day Kindergarten programs and Grades 1-6, who require before and/or after school care. We provide a variety of structured activities suitable for school-age children that focus on the child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development. We offer high-quality care and learning opportunities.
Pacesetters Out of School Care offers an active schedule including field trips, reading, gym games, movies, arts and crafts, swimming, skating, sledding, and team sports. At our Out-of-School Care, we aim to offer inclusive, accessible, affordable, quality childcare for all. At Pacesetters, we strive to meet the needs of children and their parents. Staff members are dedicated to supporting children and aiding them in developing positive self-esteem, a positive attitude, and opportunities for social interaction, learning, and increasing independence and responsibility.
The program is guided by the belief that each child is unique and has many different interests, which is why there are opportunities for children to be involved in structured activities and free play. Teachers provide each child with a varied, exciting and developmentally appropriate program, which encourages active participation and provides first-hand experience.
Our programs are staffed by fully certified early childhood educators. All of our staff currently hold or are in the process of completing their Early Childhood Certificate, Education Assistant Certificate and/or Early Childhood Diploma.
All staff working in the program hold the following certifications: Alberta Childcare Certification, CPR and first aid, and a current Criminal Record Check.
Pacesetters ensure and maintain the required combined ratio of children to teachers in this group to provide adequate supervision and safety. (Grade 1 and higher 1:15). We have an outdoor play space within easy and safe walking distance from the program premises. In the location, we have certified Food personnel and healthy meals in the Café. If you need lunch for your child, you can order food from the Café.
